This is our local bakery under the strict supervision of Rabbi Yehoshua Grunstein (HK). All bagels, challah loaves, challah rolls, white breads, whole wheat breads, multigrain breads and brown breads are “Pat Yisrael”. All rye and sourdough breads are “Pat Palter”. Stone Hearth products are also available in the local grocery stores.

Bens Limited

All Ben’s Limited breads and rolls are kosher in Nova Scotia under the supervision of the Kof-K. Please be advised that the packaging in Nova Scotia does not bear their symbol.

Sweet challahs and rolls from Montreal Kosher arrive in the stores each Friday night and they are immediately frozen. These frozen products are available any day of the week at the deli counter or on the shelves on Thursday and Friday.

Nova Scotia Liquor Commission Stores,
Sobey’s Queen Street location carries only carries Manischewitz sweet wine.
Quinpool Superstore location carries a slightly wider selection.

Grape juice is available at the Superstore locations on Barrington Street and Quinpool Road as well as Sobey’s on Queen Street and Clayton Park.

FISH:

All fresh salmon can be purchased either whole or in fillets.
Smoked salmon (lox) requires a hechsher.
All other kosher fishes can be purchased filleted with a hechscher, as a whole, raw fish with skin on, or as raw fillets with skin on one side.

CHEESE:

A selection of hard cheeses is usually available at Sobey’s, Queen Street.
Soft cheeses are available at Sobey’s and Superstore in the health food sections as well as at Pete’s Frootique. Creamed cottage cheese is available at Sobey’s under the Smart Choice label and in selected stores under the Nordica label.

There is also a Nova Scotia Liquor Commission Store within this location that carries the available kosher wines.
